Château Guadet is a historic Grand Cru Classé estate nestled on the limestone plateau at the edge of the medieval village of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Owned by the Lignac family since 1844, the estate has been shaped by seven generations of winegrowers and takes its name from the notable Girondin figure Marguerite Élie Guadet, whose image still appears on the bottle labels in tribute to his legacy. The vineyard’s five hectares of clay-limestone soils are farmed according to organic and biodynamic principles, producing wines defined by elegance, balance and a clear expression of terroir through natural vinification and extended aging in a variety of vessels.

The Lignac family has been at the heart of Saint-Émilion’s viticultural heritage since acquiring Château Guadet in 1844, stewarding the estate across seven generations. Today, Guy-Petrus and Catherine Lignac, and their son Vincent represent the contemporary custodians of this legacy, blending deep respect for tradition with a commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture. Under their guidance, the vineyard’s limestone and clay soils are carefully farmed and wines are crafted through natural vinification, resulting in expressive, terroir-driven bottles that reflect both the history of the region and the family’s evolving vision.
