Domaine Jean-Philippe Marchand, rooted in Burgundy's esteemed winemaking heritage, traces its origins to 1813 in Morey-Saint-Denis. Now under the stewardship of Jean-Philippe Marchand, the estate is headquartered in an 18th-century winehouse in Gevrey-Chambertin. The domaine's vineyards span prestigious appellations in the Côte de Nuits, including Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Gevrey-Chambertin, encompassing renowned Grand Crus like Clos de la Roche, Griottes-Chambertin, and Charmes-Chambertin. Many vines are over 40 years old, with some exceeding 60 years, contributing to the depth and complexity of the wines. Committed to sustainable viticulture, the estate employs traditional methods such as hand harvesting and organic fertilization. In the cellar, wines undergo meticulous vinification, including temperature-controlled fermentation and aging in oak barrels for approximately 18 months, with practices like "ouillage" and "soutirage" enhancing clarity and character.
Jean-Philippe Marchand represents the seventh generation of vintners at Domaine Marchand, a lineage that began in 1813 in Morey-Saint-Denis. Since taking the helm in 1983, he has been dedicated to crafting wines that authentically express the unique terroirs of Burgundy. Marchand's philosophy centers on respecting each vineyard's character, allowing the true essence of the region to shine through in every bottle.
