As one of the oldest active family wine estates in Saint-Émilion, dating back to 1507, Château du Rocher represents over five centuries of uninterrupted winemaking heritage. Currently led by the Comtesse B. de Sercey, the estate is situated on the south-facing slopes of Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse, where its 16 hectares of vines benefit from a rich clay-limestone and ferruginous soil. The vineyard is characterized by its remarkable longevity, with an average vine age of 60 years and some centenary parcels that provide a rare depth of quality. Specializing in Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, the estate follows an organic philosophy (certified since 2012) to produce wines of "natural and chic elegance." Their traditional blend—primarily Merlot (70%) complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon—is aged for 12 months in French oak, resulting in a sophisticated, well-balanced profile known for its signature notes of violet, ripe red fruits, and subtle, velvety tannins that allow the wines to age gracefully for up to 25 years.
